Formula 1 | Rosberg reveals: “I thought about coming back after yesterday's show, but the idea lasted just five seconds”

In an interview granted to the columns of Corriere della Sera, Nico Rosberg spoke about the sensations he had aboard the Mercedes W07 Hybrid, the car with which in 2016, after a heated duel with Lewis Hamilton, he managed to win the first and only world title of career. The German admitted he thought about a sensational comeback, but the idea lasted just five seconds.

Getting back into the W07 was like coming home and the German made the most of the three laps in Monaco together with his father, Keke Rosberg. Also asked about the world championship fight, Nico was quite surprised by Ferrari's performance, underlining how he didn't expect such a competitive SF71H in this first part of the season. According to him, the world fight is open to three teams and will continue until the final Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Here are the words of Nico Rosberg: “Have I thought about running again? For five seconds, yes, but it passed immediately. When I got back into the cockpit it was like coming home. I'm really happy."

On the global challenge he added: “It's a spectacular fight between three teams. It's a perfect scenario because no one knows who will win on Sunday. Ferrari, for example, is the real surprise. Mercedes suffered at the start of last season, but then came out of it. I didn't expect Ferrari, even this season, to be so fast. It's the best car at the moment. Lewis, however, is an impeccable rider and has already demonstrated his strength in Spain."

He concluded by talking about the predictions for the next Monaco GP: “I would bet on Raikkonen. Last year he took pole”.
