Formula 1 | Renault, Sainz: “Hulkenberg will help me, we will push each other”

The internal rivalry between Nico Hulkenberg e Carlos Sainz promises to be one of the hottest of 2018. The former Toro Rosso, who took over during the current season Jolyon Palmer, is eager to grasp the secrets of a fast and expert driver like the German: “I've seen how Nico works, and it will definitely help me: From a driver who has been in Formula 1 for seven or eight years and who has adapted so well to a team, as happened to Nico last year, there are only things to watch and learn." – declared Sainz, who in his first four outings in Renault, which coincided with the last rounds of the 2017 World Championship, achieved a 7th, an 11th place and two retirements.

This coexistence, according to the Spaniard, will therefore lead benefit to both: “I'm sure we can push each other and this will make the team progress, I think Nico also welcomed the challenge of having me next to him. Already in the feedback I found many similarities: this will help everyone".

Sainz, however, does not forget his past in Toro Rosso: “There is always the human side, I have a lot of knowledge regarding public relations, many engineers with whom I have close relationships strong bond. You obviously miss those people – concluded the 23 year old from Madrid – but they are next to me (in the paddock, ed.) and I will obviously be able to see them!”.
