Formula 1 | Red Bull, Ricciardo reveals: “Future? First I want to talk to Honda"
“I'm trying to close the puzzle,” he commented
Despite Ferrari's partial step back and the increasingly probable renewal of Valtteri Bottas with Mercedes, Daniel Ricciardo still didn't want to say anything about a possible future within Red Bull. In an interview given to Sky, in fact, the Australian revealed that he wanted to speak with Honda regarding the technical projects for 2019, seeking a clear vision of what the team's potential will be in the future. Only later, when all the pieces of the puzzle are in place, will he make a decision on the matter.
Ricciardo, we remember, also received offers from Renault and McLaren, with the former looking around for a possible replacement for Carlos Sainz (Red Bull-owned driver. ed.), while the latter is looking for a profile capable of replacing a world champion like Fernando Alonso.
Here are the words of Daniel Ricciardo: “Next week Red Bull will push for a decision from me. I want to talk to Honda to better understand the transition to their engine and I'm trying to close the puzzle. I'm quite optimistic about it."
