Formula 1 | Red Bull, Horner skeptical about aerodynamic changes: "There won't be such a tangible difference compared to the past"

In a chat given to the microphones of crash.net, Christian Horner spoke about the aerodynamic changes planned for the 2019 season, underlining how a clear idea of the effects of these changes will only be available after the fifth race of the world championship.

According to the Red Bull Team Principal, in fact, the changes resulting from these modifications will not be so tangible, at least as regards slipstream driving, and the situation in terms of overtaking will not be so different compared to the past.

Precisely in this sense, Horner underlined how the only way to create a compact grid is to maintain a technical regulation for several seasons, so as to allow small teams to gradually approach the performances of the top ones.

Here are the impressions of the English Manager: “The regulations for 2019 will be a significant change and will obviously be very costly for the teams. Could it affect driving up close? Maybe a little, but we believe it won't be such a tangible difference compared to the past. Inevitably someone will be able to do it better, while others will do it better."

“I personally think the only way to get a close grid is stability. Only in this way will they be able to have similar performances", he added. “In hindsight I believe it was a mistake to rush the introduction of these regulations. In any case, we postpone any judgment after the first five or six races of the season."
