Formula 1 | Red Bull, Honda close to closing supply for 2019

From the latest information coming out of the Milton Keynes factory, Red Bull would be close to closing an agreement with Honda for the 2019 season. Despite the enormous progress made by Renault with the latest evolutionary step, Dietrich Mateschitz would be ready to bet on Japanese units, effectively closing a parenthesis with the French engineer that has now lasted for more than ten years.

According to the Austrian Scuderia, Honda can count on a different potential compared to Renault, especially with regards to the resources within the factory. The agreement with the current engine engineer, we remember, expires at the end of this season and according to what Cyril Abiteboul declared, Renault will not keep the discussions open until the Austrian GP.

“The progress that Honda has made in recent weeks has been evident”, a team source told the Salzburger Nachrichten newspaper. “We are convinced they will overtake Renault in 2019. However there will be an announcement for the home GP”.
