Formula 1 | Ralf Schumacher: “It makes no sense to replace Bottas during the season”

Ralf Schumacher believes that a swap between Valtteri Bottas and George Russell during the current season would only lead to unrest within Mercedes.

According to the talent of Sky Sport DE, the arrival of the current Williams driver in Mercedes would only bring havoc within the same, an aspect which would obviously put the conquest of the world title at the expense of Red Bull at serious risk.

Schumacher, therefore, believes that Mercedes will continue with the Finn until the end of the championship, only to then carry out all the necessary assessments for 2022.

“It makes no sense to replace Valtteri during the season,” said the German. “Obviously he's not as strong as Hamilton, but compared to Imola he improved significantly in Portugal, so much so that he managed to score pole position on Saturday.”

“It is still too early in the season to be able to draw conclusions like this. A trade would bring more turmoil within the team. I don't think Hamilton would be happy to have Russell as a teammate."he concluded.
