During the opening press conference of the next one Bahrain Grand Prix, the inaugural event of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship, Oscar piastri analyzed the performances shown by the MCL60 during the three days of testing in Bahrain, specifying how the team is ready to battle in the mid-group positions.

Despite the development carried out over the winter, the McLaren failed to take the long-awaited step towards the top of the standings, an aspect that will force Piastri himself and Lando Norris to compete with AlphaTauri, Haas and Williams for a placing in the points. It is difficult, at the moment, to imagine a battle not only with the top teams, but also with Aston Martin and Alpine.

“We experience a similar situation to other teams,” said the Australian from McLaren. “The tests didn't go smoothly for various reasons, but we believe we are in the middle of the pack, more or less. In any case, after free practice we will have a clear idea of ​​the values ​​at stake and our position within the starting grid."

On his debut he declared: “I've been dreaming of this moment since I was 12 years old. I've been away from racing for a year and now I'm experiencing all this. I come back hungrier and it's a great feeling."
