Formula 1 | Mosley has no doubts: “The season should be cancelled”

Max Mosley has no doubts that the 2020 World Cup formula 1 should be cancelled. According to the former President of the FIA, the Coronavirus emergency is creating major problems for the Circus structure itself, an aspect that should push Liberty Medium to evaluate effective countermeasures to safeguard not only teams, but also the organizers.

“The 2020 season should be cancelled,” said Max mosley. “Such a move would help organizers plan for the future and implement the right countermeasures to this emergency situation. They are currently in limbo and losing a lot of money. If they wait, they risk making the situation worse, without the certainty of getting anything."

On the races behind closed doors he added: “It would be a financial disaster for most organizers. Shortening weekends and holding multiple races at individual circuits would have minimal impact on costs. There is no guarantee that racing will restart in July and to be honest this scenario is becoming increasingly unlikely. There will be no certain plan until the pandemic situation is resolved."

Finally, conclusion on the budget cap: “The problem of differences in the grid cannot be solved in this way. The sums proposed are out of reach for living on small stables. There are too many exceptions to the proposed rules."
