Formula 1 | Montezemolo advises Ferrari: "Vettel and Leclerc must not race for themselves"

Interviewed by Sky Italia, Luca Cordero Montezemolo spoke about the management that Mattia Binotto will have to implement towards Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel, underlining how Ferrari must set priorities for what concerns next season.

According to the former President of the Rossa, in fact, the Cavallino management must make its drivers understand that the Scuderia comes before any personal interest, especially after an extremely difficult championship like that of 2019.

As for Vettel, however, Montezemolo placed maximum trust in the German, highlighting how the latter has all the capabilities to get out of the difficulties faced during last season.

“Leclerc is a tough rider, but also an intelligent guy who can become a champion,” said Luca Cordero Montezemolo. “Certainly there have been some negative moments within the team, but the drivers must realize that they are not racing for themselves, but for Ferrari. It's a great responsibility that the team must make clear."

On Vettel he instead stated: “Seb needs to stay calm and have confidence in his abilities. He is a very strong boy and has all the characteristics to do well”.
