Formula 1 | Mercedes, Wolff denies negotiations with Ricciardo: "We want to continue with our drivers"

In an interview given to the columns of Corriere dello Sport, Toto Wolff returned to the topic of drivers for 2019, underlining for the umpteenth time how the world champion Scuderia is not interested in Daniel Ricciardo's performances. According to the Austrian, in fact, Mercedes can count on an excellent line-up and a junior team that is equal to the main team. Which is why, if a farewell from Lewis Hamilton or Valtteri Bottas were to materialize, the priority would be to work with the material at one's disposal. This speech, of course, refers to Pascal Wehrlein, George Russell and Esteban Ocon.

Here are the words of Toto Wolff: “During the weekend in Baku I was asked the exact same thing and today I will give an almost similar answer: Mercedes is not looking outside itself for next year's line-up. We are extremely satisfied with our line-up and I don't see the point in starting discussions with external riders. Lewis is the best on the market while Valtteri (Bottas.ndr) he's having a fantastic season to say the least. It was unfortunate, but with the performances he showed he could easily win two Grands Prix. We also have two young players with Esteban Ocon and George Russell who are showing a lot. They are our future and precisely in this sense I believe that we have a huge pool in our hands from which to draw drivers."
