Formula 1 | Mercedes, Russell disappointed: “Race accident with Perez”

After the problematic start due to the contact with Perez, Russell served the penalty and achieved a good fourth place, fighting in the middle of the group against drivers who were certainly slower but very aggressive and who did not give the Englishman from Mercedes an easy life. The W13 is still very far from Red Bull and Ferrari in terms of performance, at least in terms of consistency on each circuit, but reliability gives opportunities when the two teams fighting for the world championship have problems, like today.

“Same position as the start – Russell said. I'm a bit disappointed honestly: on the first lap Checo threw himself on the outside of the corner and took a narrow line, I had Sainz in front and I had to take the curb. I thought it might be difficult, but for me it was a racing accident. Afterwards we optimized everything and I look at the positive aspects, we ended up about 15 seconds from the podium, and I recovered from nineteenth to fourth position. We also did well as a team, we achieved the best possible result."
