Formula 1 | Mercedes looks to 2018: revolutionized "concept" for the future W09?

The poor performances displayed in the Asian triptych could push Mercedes to revolutionize the "concept" of the car for next season. In the Brackley factory, according to what was declared by a German source, a change of philosophy for the 2018 car is being considered, given that the layout used this year seems to have reached the peak of its development.

The updates brought to Sepang did not yield the desired results and this made the car a real nightmare to drive (as admitted by Lewis Hamilton himself. ed.). Having taken note of this, Wolff is apparently choosing the path to follow for next year, evaluating ideas that will be fundamental in anticipation of next season. Precisely in this sense, Allison confirmed that there will be changes in the 2018 car, admitting that the path taken with the W08 EQ Power was too "aggressive" and risky.

Here are the words of the Mercedes Technical Director: “It hasn't been a problem car for us. However, we are looking at something alternative for 2018. The aim is to make it easier to manage on the track, while at the same time seeking good performance. This year we have made several changes and we hope to do a slightly less aggressive job in the next championship."
