Formula 1 | McLaren, many regrets in qualifying for the Monaco GP

Formula 1 GP Monaco McLaren – Numerous regrets for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in the qualifying session valid for the Monaco Grand Prix, sixth round of the 2023 Formula 1 world championship. The Englishman, responsible for a contact with the barriers in Q2, lost a lot of time during the third heat for the necessary repairs to an arm, while in his fastest lap he was clearly slowed down by Charles Leclerc. Two unfavorable situations that did not allow him to go beyond 10th place. Piastri, however, after Friday's difficulties, came close to reaching Q3 and will start from 11th position.

“It was a disappointing qualifying for two reasons,” said the McLaren Englishman. “In Q2 I hit a wall and this forced me to lose some time in the third heat. Precisely in this sense, the mechanics did a great job to put the car back together. Afterwards, when we got out on track, we were stuck on our fastest lap in Q3. Many ups and downs that didn't give us the result we wanted. We probably could have achieved something more, maybe an eighth place, but in the end that's how it went. We will try to get some good points in the race."

Here are Piastri's impressions: “The final scoreboard shows a rather frustrating P11, given that we missed Q3 by a few thousandths. We struggled in free practice, but in qualifying the feeling with the car improved. I'm quite happy with the steps forward we've made. Anything can happen tomorrow and on a personal level I aim to guarantee myself some points. We will work hard to see what we can achieve in the race."
