Formula 1, Marchionne: “It breaks my soul to see a Ferrari suffering like this”

Sergio Marchionne on Ferrari and Formula 1 – The President of the Prancing Horse expresses all his bitterness for a not exactly impressive start to the championship, ready to further encourage the team, in which he always places the utmost trust, to definitively close the gap with Mercedes

The dissatisfaction of the President of Ferrari, Sergio Marchionne, in his initial assessment of the Scuderia del Prancing Horse's start to the championship in 2016, is all contained in the expression: "It breaks my soul to see a Ferrari suffering like this".

“Among the bad luck we had in the first three races, even yesterday (Sunday 1 May 2016, ed.) which was not a great day, with some technical gaps (we are seeing them now, unfortunately they have emerged), despite the team's commitment Scuderia in 2015, it's a very strange vision” added Marchionne. “It breaks my soul to see a Ferrari suffering like this. Now I'll be in Maranello in a couple of hours (during the day, dr). It's a discussion that clearly needs to be discussed with the guys at the Scuderia. It's not in the team's DNA. Not for anything, in the past maybe we had the setting completely wrong. Not this time. That is: both the engine, the car and the drivers are there", underlining that the ideal conditions for a turning point are already present during this Formula 1 season and that, certainly, the path is still long and not at all obvious.

“We can't blame anyone” highlights the Maranello number one, however, who adds: “we came very close. The difference between us and the others is less than a second, half a second of difference. This is a gap that must be filled at the speed of light. I don't like seeing it. That is, I'm used to a Ferrari that succeeds. I remember the one from Schumacher's time, who managed to dictate the pace on the circuit." In conclusion: “There is a lot of work to do. The problem is that the last half seconds are very complicated. It's not that it's very easy to get there. Having said that, I have the utmost confidence in the team. We'll make it!"
