Formula 1, FOM awards the 2014 Promoters Trophy to Sochi

It has been a successful year for the Russian Grand Prix. After winning the award for the best motorsport structure in 2014, the Sochi track also obtained the Promoters Trophy 2014, awarded to the best organizers of the season. Despite the official nomination, the award will be presented on December 19th during a visit by FIA and FOM officials to Sochi. Era already happened in the past the prize was awarded to the organizers of a track making its debut in the Formula 1 World Championship. If in 2004 it was the turn of the Sakhir track (Bahrain), in 2008 the winner was Marina Bay (Singapore), in 2009 Yas Marina ( Abu Dhabi), in 2011 the Yeongam (South Korea) and in 2011 the Buddh (India).

The Sochi circuit was built inside the Olympic park which hosted the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics: “In addition to hosting the Russian Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Sochi Autodrome will soon launch its driving academy which will contribute to Motorport development in the Krasnodar region – we read in the press release which appeared on the plant's website – The program provides for the training of drivers with the aim of establishing in them a greater awareness of safety on the roads”.
