Formula 1 | Jos Verstappen reveals: “Max signed a good deal with Red Bull”
"A Max-Lewis couple? Difficult equation from an economic point of view," he added
Interviewed by the newspaper L'Equipe, Joseph Verstappen revealed some details relating to the contract renewal signed by Max Verstappen with the Red Bull, underlining how the economic agreement proposed by the Milton Keynes house satisfied the Dutchman's requests.
According to the former Benetton driver, the standard bearer of the Austrian team will receive a significantly higher salary than the current one, an aspect that will make him one of the highest paid "drivers" within the starting line-up.
“Max is highly regarded in Red Bull and he is quite close to Marko,” Jos Verstappen said to the French press. “I think he's the type of driver that Helmut really likes. I can tell you that Max is well paid, probably like the first two or three drivers on the grid."
“I don't know the economic terms that Hamilton is negotiating with Mercedes, but I can say that we managed to reach a good agreement,” the Dutchman continued. “A Max-Lewis couple? The fans would love it, but I don't think it would be a good idea. Furthermore, it would be a difficult equation from an economic point of view."
