Formula 1 | Jan Lammers does not rule out a possible farewell from Mercedes in the near future
“There is no certainty about their intentions,” the Dutch GP boss said
Mercedes could soon say goodbye to Formula 1, according to Jan Lammers.
According to what was declared by the organizer of the Dutch Grand Prix in the columns of the newspaper F1Maximaal, in fact, the world champion team could soon consider a sensational farewell to the Circus, especially if Ferrari and Red Bull were to put the dominance on display at serious risk by Lewis Hamilton over the past few seasons.
“There is no certainty about what they will do in the future,” said Jan Lammers regarding the presence of the Mercedes brand in Formula 1. “It's not unthinkable to think that at some point they'll say, 'That was great, but it's time to do something else.' I honestly think the chance of further dominance is statistically small and while still impressive, I would say they have peaked.”
On the comparison with the Red Bull Honda duo he added: “Honda needs to improve and they are doing so. Verstappen signed the renewal on the basis of technical and sporting trust, which is why I can expect a solid project."
