Formula 1 | Horner: “Ricciardo? In Red Bull he has become the best at overtaking"
The team principal of the Anglo-Austrian team: "In contention with Daniel for the post-Webber season were Vergne and Raikkonen, and ironically..."
Intervened at the microphones of Motorsport, Chris horner he spoke about his now former driver Daniel Ricciardo, about to move to Renault after five intense seasons in Red Bull. The team principal of the Milton Keynes team has revealed some details relating to the promotion of the Australian driver from Toro Rosso to the parent company, which materialized in 2014 following the farewell of Mark Webber.
“It has been a pleasure to have on the team for the last five years” – Horner began. “He has been with Red Bull since 2007 and it has been great to see him grow and evolve. Ironically, when we faced the dilemma of which driver to choose for the post-Mark Webber era, Jean-Eric Vergne, Daniel Ricciardo and Kimi Raikkonen were in the running. And our biggest concern with Daniel wasn't his pace, but the fact that we hadn't seen him compete wheel-to-wheel when he was at Toro Rosso. Since he arrived at Red Bull he has done nothing but overtake, and he has probably become the best in the Circus from this point of view.".
