Formula 1 | Hamilton: “Vettel deserved a dinner in honor of him”

Sebastian Vettel competed for the last time in his Formula 1 career in Abu Dhabi. On the Thursday before the Yas Marina free practice, all the drivers gathered for a dinner in honor of the German champion. Everything was organized by Lewis Hamilton, rival of the former Ferrari but with whom he developed a deep respect over time. The Englishman wanted to greet Seb in the best possible way, and he hopes to be able to repeat this experience continuously given the good relationship between all the riders.

“I thought it was an important thing to do – Hamilton admitted. So in Mexico I asked the other riders if they were available to have a dinner in honor of Seb. We hadn't eaten together for years and it was a great evening, because everyone was happy, laughing and lots of stories were told, and then Seb is a great leader. He gave a very nice speech, trying to pass on all the experiences of these years to us, especially to the younger guys. That photo demonstrates the harmony of the group, perhaps never like this in the last 15 years, and then we told ourselves to do it again more often. Maybe we'll make it an annual tradition, or even do another one mid-season, who knows. We can do many things, the GPDA is a united group, we have many responsibilities."
