Formula 1 | British GP, Silverstone ready for a new date in 2020?

The aim would be to avoid overlapping with the Wimbledon finals

Pringle: "We are putting our preferences on the table and I would say that Formula 1 is actively collaborating with us"
Formula 1 | British GP, Silverstone ready for a new date in 2020?

The criticisms made a few days ago by Lewis Hamilton could push the BRDC to consider a change of date for next season's British Grand Prix.

According to what was declared by Start Pringle to the columns of inews, in fact, the British Racing Drivers' Club is considering a change to the calendar for 2020, so as not to overlap the Grand Prix at Silverstone with the finals of the Wimbledon tournament.

The idea was put forward by Lewis Hamilton in recent days and would have been welcomed by those who manage the facility and by Liberty Media, who would have given their approval to a solution of this type.

However, the problem of the date remains, given that the English event wants to find a date that fits perfectly with the other commitments on the calendar (a back-to-back round is not welcome. Ed.).

“We are putting our preferences on the table and I would say that Formula 1 is actively collaborating with us,” said Stuart Pringle, chief executive of the BRDC. “Equally, however, I sympathize with F1's concerns regarding Brexit and the impact it would have on us. I agree with them that placing the Silverstone round in a back-to-back would expose us to unacceptable risks."
