Double DRS zone for the weekend in Azerbaijan

GP Baku, DRS zones confirmed for the sixth round of the 2021 world championship
Formula 1 | Azerbaijan GP, double DRS zone for the Baku race

The FIA has made official the points where it will be possible to exploit the DRS system in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the sixth round of the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship.

After Max Verstappen's domination in Monaco, which came thanks to the "sensational" retirement of Charles Leclerc's Ferrari during the installation lap on Sunday, teams and drivers will return to battle on the very fast Baku circuit, which has returned to the calendar after the forced break last year due to Covid19.

As two years ago, the race commission has chosen to activate two DRS zones, which will be positioned in the main straight of the Azeri circuit and in the stretch leading from turn 2 to 3. The detection cells, one for each sector, will be placed just before turns 20 and 2.

The weekend programme, we remind you, includes two one-hour free practice sessions on Friday and FP3 on Saturday morning. These 60 minutes of work on the track will be the last opportunity for teams and drivers to work on the set-ups in view of qualifying, scheduled for the same day at 14.00pm. Green light on Sunday afternoon at 14.00pm. The race can be followed live on Sky Sport F1 HD and deferred on TV8.
