Spielberg – 215 days after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on 1 December 2019, Formula 1 returned to the track for a race weekend. Shortly after 11am the SF1000s of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc left the Scuderia Ferrari garage to carry out their respective installation laps on the Spielberg track.

Wet tires. The first laps were completed on wet tires as a brief shower of rain hit the area as the session had just begun. However, the asphalt was never damp and therefore all the teams soon switched to slick tyres.

The two Scuderia Ferrari drivers concentrated on the set-up work, running only on Medium tyres. In his first flying lap, Charles achieved a time of 1'06"554, which he then improved twice, first with 1'06"120 and then with a time of 1'05"924 which remained the Monegasque's best. Sebastian started with 1'06”343, then improved twice with 1'06”124 and then with 1'06”077 which remained the German's reference time. Charles and Sebastian placed tenth and twelfth respectively.

Program. The preparatory work for tomorrow's qualifying and Sunday's race will continue in the afternoon with the second free practice session scheduled for 15pm CET.
