Formula 1 | FIA, Wittich and Freitas test positive for Covid-19
The German race director could skip the Miami GP, a couple of names have already been alerted
The two Formula 1 race directors Niels Wittich and Eduardo Freitas tested positive for Covid-19 in the hours following the Imola Grand Prix. The FIA made it known that both already had some symptoms during the Italian weekend, and for this reason they carried out swabs once they returned home. The Portuguese should be in SPA next weekend to direct the WEC race, while the German should have left for Miami, but he will not be able to do so also because the United States requires a negative swab before entering the country.
What does this point do? According to what reported by Autosport, the FIA is thinking of two possible replacements: one is Scot Elkins, Formula E race director, the other is Herbie Blash, former deputy of Charlie Whiting and trusted face of president Ben Sulayem, but the name of Colin Haywood cannot be excluded.
