Formula 1 | Ferrari does not rule out using its 'veto' for the new 2021 regulations

Maurizio Arrivabene has not ruled out the use of the 'veto' by Ferrari on the new regulations that will come into force in 2021. According to the Scuderia's Team Principal, Ferrari must guarantee a functional show for the Formula One project and to do this it will exploit every own weapon. In Maranello they would like to maintain the same architecture as the current engine, thus aiming for consistency in terms of lowering costs.

Here are the words of Maurizio Arrivabene: “It's not about Mercedes or Ferrari blocking certain regulations, but about making changes that are functional to Formula One. All with a lowering of management costs for all teams. Ferrari's idea is to maintain the same architecture, in order to have consistency over time. Something like this would guarantee a significant cost reduction. It's not Ferrari or Mercedes who judge the show, but the fans."

“We cannot rule out drastic measures” he added. “Among these there is also the veto option. Everything will depend on the regions that emerge and the moments in which certain decisions will be made. In any case, we are talking about serious subjects: if we all have a clear idea of what to do, I don't think there will be any reason to apply anything."
