Formula 1 | Ferrari, Kimi and Seb agree: “We must exploit every opportunity”

Formula 1 returns to Europe, on the track that has hosted all the winter tests of the last three years. Scuderia Ferrari drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel are well aware that things will be different this weekend, despite temperatures not being as high as one might expect in May in Catalunya. As usual in this race, several developments have appeared on the two SF71Hs and the whole team is preparing for the challenge.

“It's hard to know what will happen this weekend”, is Kimi's comment; “It depends on many things. Obviously, everyone has done a lot of testing on this track, but the conditions are completely different at this time of year. So far we have been strong and fast everywhere. We expect to at least be competitive. We will do our job and in the next few days we will see if it will be enough. Qualifying is important here as it's difficult to overtake on this circuit, but in the end it's not that different to most other places we race. After all, last year we saw several overtaking in the race, so we will see how this year turns out and how the tires behave. We have a rough idea of ​​our condition; we also know that the result is not always a given, whoever is the strongest. We continue to work and improve. There is not a big difference between the three top teams. By avoiding mistakes and problems, we will have one more chance to be in first place at the end.".

Adds Sebastian: “At the start of the season you don't know how strong you will be, but I think we can be happy so far. We have been very competitive and have had a fighting chance for the win in most races so far. Having said that, there are still many Grands Prix ahead of us, so there is no point in talking now about what will happen at the end of the championship. Now I think it's important to make the most of every opportunity in the race. It's normal to want to win, so if you get the best result every weekend, and are in a position to fight for the championship, then all the better. But there is no point in speaking too soon. I believe details can make the difference. We will continue to work on the updates and see what they lead to."
