Formula 1 | Ferrari, Leclerc's engine broken in Baku is irrecoverable

Ferrari has confirmed that the power unit mounted on Charles Leclerc's car in Baku is irrecoverable, and for this reason the Maranello team will have to count on one less unit between now and the end of the season. The penalty, which has already been taken into account, will arrive sooner than expected: it remains to be seen whether already in Montreal the Monegasque driver's F1-75 will also have a new turbo, which in this case would mean moving back to the starting grid on Sunday, being the fourth component however mounted on the third overall unit.

In fact, the Baku engine was based on the Barcelona one, where the turbo, the second one, and the MGU-H failed, two new components reassembled on the Baku engine, which were also out after Sunday's problem. A big problem for Ferrari, which will now probably have to change its strategy regarding rotations and the components to be used until the end of the season. The Scuderia di Maranello is working to make the project more robust, keeping the situation under control.
