Formula 1 | Ecclestone compliments Ferrari: "Well done not to let Vettel pass in Austria"

Bernie Ecclestone has praised Ferrari's decision to resist the possibility of implementing team orders. During the last Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, in fact, the Maranello team could have easily reversed the positions of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel, inviting the Finn to let his teammate pass. Despite the possibility of earning three more points for the German, however, the pit wall decided to reward Kimi's excellent race, leaving the riders free with regards to finishing below the finish line. An unexpected move that led “Mr E” to compliment him.

“Everyone should take example from Ferrari's sportsmanship”, Bernie told Sport Bild. “It would have been easy to let Vettel pass just before the end, but at Ferrari they decided to look at Kimi's morals, maintaining sporting fairness. I would say that they have finally taken that step forward that I have been waiting for for years and years."

“Sebastian really deserves the title and we hope it doesn't hurt him to have given up those three points”he concluded.
