Formula 1 | The "marriage" between Hamilton and Mercedes continues: new agreement worth 150 million over three years

After the numerous rumors of recent weeks, seasoned with statements from the interested party himself, Mercedes would be ready to lock up Lewis Hamilton for the next three seasons, closing a "monster" contract worth 150 million over three years. According to what was reported in the Yas Marina paddock, the parties involved have reached an agreement in principle in recent days, presumably during the Englishman's last visit to the bases of Brackley and Brixworth, reaching an agreement that would bring the World Champion into charge to become the highest paid driver in the history of the Circus. The agreement, in fact, would provide for a duration of three years starting from 2019, net of a compensation equal to 50 million euros per season, thirteen more than what the Englishman currently receives.

A crazy figure, also considering the bonuses linked to winning the world title, with which Mercedes guaranteed the services of probably the strongest driver around. The Englishman's goal will be to continue winning, perhaps reaching the victories and world championships won by Michael Schumacher.

Curiosity linked to the new agreement: Hamilton and Mercedes should continue for another four years, given that the expiry of the new agreement will fall in 2021. It is therefore easy to think that in Stuttgart they intend to continue their adventure in the Circus even after the expiry of the the current Concorde Agreement, set for 2020. Obviously nothing is certain, but this could become a very interesting signal for the future of the Circus. The signing of the new contract should arrive during the weekend in Abu Dhabi.
