Formula 1 | Brawn clarifies: “We will not cancel the Chinese Grand Prix”

Liberty Media has no intention of canceling the next Chinese Grand Prix, the fourth round of the 2020 Formula 1 World Championship.

In an interview given to some selected media, Ross Brawn spoke about the health situation that is keeping the world championship round in Shanghai in the balance, highlighting how Liberty has no intention of canceling the event from the 2020 calendar.

If the conditions were not to be met in April, the US company would contact teams and organizers with the aim of finding a new free slot during the season finale. Precisely in this sense the idea of placing the Grand Prix in December, immediately after the one in Abu Dhabi, is circulating.

“The Chinese Grand Prix will be postponed if it cannot be held in April,” said Chase Carey's right-hand man, Ross Brawn. “Our idea is to find a window towards the end of the season. It's a difficult situation and we're waiting for news from the organizers to have a clear idea of what to do in the coming weeks."

On the deadlines he added: “Sea transport will leave this week, but it's not a big problem at this point, since in case they would go back. The crux of the matter is the departure of the workers. We are talking about a critical phase that will take place in a couple of weeks and by that date we aim to have a very specific plan to follow."
