Formula 1 | Bourdais defends US pilots: “The Circus lives inside a bubble”

In an interview with F1i.com, Sebastien Bourdais spoke about the latest controversy unleashed by Gunther Steiner on American drivers, underlining how certain statements should not even be considered by the press. According to the Frenchman, in fact, the Circus lives inside a bubble completely isolated from the world, where to enter you have to demonstrate that you can play the game. Many American pilots attempt to land, but being out of the loop, they are not supported in the correct way.

Here are the words of Sebastien Bourdais: “Some comments don't even deserve attention. Formula One continues to evolve within its own bubble, an island away from mere mortals. Either you enter the game or you are totally ignored. I perfectly understand the point of view of the American riders and I realize that it is not right."

“I needed an F3000 title and then four Champ Car championships to have an opportunity”, remember, “but unfortunately it was not of much help to the American pilots. Several kids have tried to enter F1, but failed. Alex Zanardi comes to mind. Many drivers are unable to make the leap to the Circus, but in the end they manage to race in IndyCar anyway, being considered as they deserve."
