In a chat given to F1 Nation, mike krack he returned to talk about the emergency situation that involved Aston Martin during the Bahrain GP, ​​specifying how the team had thought several times about Sebastian Vettel for the replacement – ​​later revealed to be unnecessary – of the injured Lance Stroll.

According to what was declared by the current TP of the English team, the four-time world champion was his first thought as soon as the Stroll case arose, specifying how the German's experience - combined with the knowledge acquired within the team between 2021 and 2022 – would have made him the ideal profile for such a situation.

At the same time, however, Krack preferred to follow the path of the internal solution, first waiting for Stroll and subsequently placing the third driver, Felipe Drugovich, on pre-alarm for a possible use in the car. A strong choice, but dictated by strong respect for the decision to retire taken by Vettel himself a few months earlier

“Have I thought about recalling Sebastian Vettel for the race in Bahrain? Yes, I was 100% tempted,” admitted the TP ofAston Martin. “Equally, however, we didn't do it out of the respect we have for him. He made a decision last year and from our point of view it would not have been correct to ask him something like that. We respected his choice, also so as not to put him in a difficult position."

“I often hear from Seb and after the podiums we achieved in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia there was no shortage of compliments from him,” he added. “We told him that these podiums are also thanks to him, given the great work he has done in the last two years. We were able to take these steps forward also thanks to him."
