After the disappointing epilogue in Singapore, Yuki Tsunoda can't wait to get on track in Suzuka for the next Japanese Grand Prix, the 18th round of the 2022 Formula 1 world championship. For the Japanese, who has now been in the Circus for two seasons, it will be the first time in front of the home crowd (the last edition took place in 2019 due to the pandemic emergency), an aspect which will obviously increase the pressure on his shoulders quite a bit.

“My first time in Singapore didn't go as I hoped,” revealed the Japanese driver. “We weren't in a good place on Friday, but we recovered quite quickly to get to Q3, which I was pleased with. In the race, the conditions were particularly complicated and I think we chose to fit the slick tires too early. That said, I made a mistake in assessing the braking point and crashed. Now I will leave everything behind to focus on next weekend, for what will be my first home race in Formula 1."

On his home race in Suzuka he instead has statements: “Objectively, the Japan match can be considered a match like any other. But for me it's one of those that I've been looking forward to since I started racing in Formula 1. At Suzuka I often drove in Formula 4 and so I have some experience, but when I recently tried the track in the simulator I realized which on a Formula 1 is a completely different thing. Having more downforce, I think in an F1 the accelerator is open for most of the lap compared to Formula 4. The view changes completely, it's as if it were a completely different track. The experience gained in the past will still be useful to me, because I remember how to drive at Suzuka. I can't wait to race there, in front of my fans."

“There will be a lot of interest from fans in this race. I imagine it will be a race weekend different from any other for me and I can't wait to live this new experience. I'm happy with all this attention, I'm not the type of person who feels much pressure from others. When I ride I'm only focused on myself and all this support will give me extra energy on every ride, it will be useful and pleasant at the same time. Many friends and family will be coming to Suzuka and I know that still those who I couldn't get passes for have purchased tickets. And one last very important point: I will be able to eat Japanese food for a whole week!”, he concluded.
