Formula 1 | AlphaTauri, the Enomondo power plant inaugurated

The Sustainability Programme, which began in 2019, is proceeding rapidly towards the ambitious objective, common to the entire world of Formula 1, of net zero carbon emissions by 2030. An objective which also passes through the new district heating system that powers the AlphaTauri factory in Faenza.

This is a new plant located a few tens of meters from the Faenza factory. Just inaugurated, the plant is managed by Enomondo, a company born from the partnership between two important Emilia-Romagna companies such as Hera and Caviro, the latter based in our area.

The factory represents the state of the art in terms of technological and industrial innovation, but also environmental sustainability. To reduce the majority component of emissions relating to AlphaTauri production activities, the Sustainability Program plans not to use methane gas, today replaced by a district heating supply, coming from the Enomondo thermoelectric plant, powered by biomass.

This power plant, inaugurated in recent days in the presence of local authorities and the top management of the companies involved, is already capable of producing electricity and thermal energy, mainly using renewable fuels made up of urban, agricultural and food waste. An almost total recovery of these is practically guaranteed, with obvious benefits for the environment and at the same time obtaining considerable savings.

Among the most used wastes are those from the wine production chain, such as pomace, deriving from the production of wine from the Caviro Group's production chain, and the mowings and prunings of public greenery collected at the Caviro Extra factory in Faenza. The Enomondo power plant, by burning these fuels, produces steam at high pressure and high temperature, which is transformed into electricity through a turbine. The plant has a total power of 7,5 MW and currently supplies the factory, a pastry shop and some private individuals.
