Formula 1 | Alonso pushes McLaren: “The points are ok, but we have to improve!”
"Together we must reduce the gap to those ahead of us" he added
Despite the points placing obtained during the last Bahrain Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso expects big improvements in the performance of the MCL33. The Spaniard, in fact, is not satisfied with the potential expressed by the Woking team in the first two races of this season hopes for a clear change of direction in view of the upcoming events in China and Azerbaijan. The points obtained in Melbourne and Sakhir certainly boost morale after a rather difficult winter, but the Spaniard doesn't want to settle for a top ten finish and hopes to close the gap with Red Bull fairly quickly.
Here are the words of Fernando Alonso: "Getting into the top ten is good, especially with two single-seaters as happened in Melbourne and here in Bahrain. It is a result that is good for the team and which allows us to collect points. In general, however, we must reduce the gap from those ahead of us. We saved the weekend with a positive Sunday, but here in Bahrain we faced more difficulties than expected. We need to sit down with teams and analyze what went wrong, especially on Saturdays."
