Formula 1 | Alfa Romeo Sauber, Ericsson: “Driving for the Alfa brand gives you extra motivation”

In the classic press conference at the start of the weekend, Marcus Ericsson spoke about the historic ninth place achieved on the Sakhir track. The Swede underlined the enormous step forward made by the Swiss team compared to last season, revealing how the partnership with Alfa Romeo is helping the entire team to improve.

Driving with the Biscione symbol printed on the car is, in fact, offering the Scuderia led by Frederic Vasseur extra motivation to do well. Ericsson also wanted to thank Ferrari for the excellent work done on the new power unit.

“It was nice in Bahrain, especially after the last difficult years,” commented Ericsson. “We scored points and opened a new chapter in Alfa's history in Formula One. We are talking about a great result and a great injection of confidence. Coming back to me, I'm back to scoring points after a long time and I'm happy. Sometimes I had perfect races, but I closed the grid. It was frustrating. We have a solid base to work on and we think we can be at the center of the grid."

On the importance of Alfa he added: “There is motivation with the entry of Alfa, we feel the importance of it. Now we entered the track with a different mentality and so far everything has gone well. Scoring first in the points with Alfa makes me proud given that we are talking about a legendary brand. This Ferrari power unit is a huge progress compared to last year when we had an old engine."
