Formula 1 | Alfa Romeo, Hartley third driver starting from the next Austrian GP?

In addition to his role as third driver for Scuderia Ferrari, Brendon Hartley may have taken on the same role within the Alfa Romeo Racing team. According to what was reported by the newspaper Blick, in fact, the New Zealander went to Hinwill a few days ago to have the seat cast, effectively marking his entry into the Italian-Swiss team.

A curious choice, justified however by the increasingly constant presence of Marcus Ericsson in IndyCar. Hartley, we remember, arrived in Maranello at the beginning of this season, with the aim of providing his contribution to the simulator.

In addition to this, however, the former Porsche driver was promoted to the role of third driver, an aspect which allowed him to participate, obviously in civilian clothes, in some world events (the last one in Canada. Ed.). An important possibility that is helping him not only to apply his knowledge, but also to maintain contacts within the paddock, a more important factor than ever from a future perspective.

“There is no simulation that can replace the contribution of a pilot,” he stated to the Speedcafe columns. “Artificial intelligence is unable to replicate inputs and sensations. I still have a job mostly because of this.”
