Force India, Mallya: "I was hoping for a better start to the championship, but let's not despair"
The Force India team principal does not lose heart and hopes for a turning point with the Barcelona evo package
For being the fifth reigning force in the world championship, Force India started the 2016 championship remarkably slowly. The Anglo-Indian team based in Silverstone only scored points in the Australian GP thanks to Nico Hulkenberg's seventh place, proving to be in difficulty in the following two races, especially over distances.
The owner and team principal Vijay Mallya does not lose heart, promising rapid improvements in the European GPs and hypothesizing that Force India will soon be competitive again.
“Honestly we expected a better start to the season but for various reasons we didn't draw the best cards from the deck – said Mallya – Compared to 2015 we didn't start badly, then we had difficulties in Bahrain and China. However, there are 18 races left and there is plenty of time to recover and improve. We know that the car is fast, as also confirmed by Perez's qualifying in China, now we need to concentrate on improving the race pace. We will bring a package of new features to Barcelona, including aerodynamic updates and suspension developments. We expect to make a good leap forward."
