Force India, Mallya: “Aston Martin interested in our team and the world of F1”

In an interview given to the columns of Motorsport during the Friday tests in Mexico, Vijay Mallya, owner of Force India, explained that there are some discussions underway with Aston Martin regarding the sale of the Silverstone base to the English company. Mallya underlined that the entire operation has not yet been concluded but that very soon, if everything goes according to plan, Aston Martin could make its debut in the world of Formula One. There is a lot of confidence around an agreement that could give the Circus a team rich in history and charm. We remember that the English brand was repeatedly compared to the Red Bull brand in the maxi operation (later cooled by Mercedes top management) which was supposed to bring the Silver Arrows' power units to Milton Keynes.

Toto Wolff's stop has changed the plans of the luxury English brand, forcing the board to divert its attention towards Williams (only initial discussions) and Force India. It should be noted that the team would take the name "Aston Martin Racing" and would maintain the supply of the Stuttgart company's power units.

Here are the words of Vijay Mallya: “There are some ongoing discussions at Aston Martin and we are quite confident that we can form a strong partnership. There are still many things to be ironed out and so I don't want to take anything for granted, but there is enthusiasm on all sides. It should be considered that we are also in discussions with Diageo for its Johnnie Walker brand, so you understand that there is still a lot of work to do before we can close any deal. The Aston brand is famous throughout the world and has a fairly high level of luxury and importance. It would give that extra touch to our team and that's exactly why I want to close a deal with them."
