Force India: Hulkenberg and Di Resta hope for a good race
The Scotsman has a dry set-up, penalty for the German
Nico Hulkenberg took ninth place on the grid at the British Formula 1 GP with Force India but will be penalized five places tomorrow for a gearbox replacement. His teammate, Paul di Resta, did not go higher than 11th in qualifying with a dry set-up in wet conditions.
“It was a very long session due to the interruption, but I think I made the best of the conditions in Q1 and Q2,” commented Hulkenberg. “Without a doubt it was right to stop the session when the rain started pouring because there were a lot of puddles and the risk of aquaplaning was high. But I don't understand where our pace went in Q3 when I was on the intermediates because the car seemed more difficult to drive and the lap times didn't come easily. I was hoping for a better position in Q3 than ninth, especially in view of tomorrow's five-place grid penalty."
“We took a bit of a risk in qualifying by focusing on the dry and the set-up set up in this way made driving difficult in the wet today” added Di Resta. “I think other cars were aggressive with the extreme wet setup so I hope my gamble pays off in the race tomorrow. I certainly would have liked to start later, but we will face the race with many question marks in terms of data on the set-up and tire performance. Anything is possible in the race and we won't give up."
