The Finn risks a five-place grid penalty
Lightning from the blue for Kimi Raikkonen and Scuderia Ferrari. After this morning's splendid qualifying, which ended in third place just a few thousandths behind Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes, the Maranello team would have encountered a small problem with the gearbox of the Finn's SF16-H. Having acknowledged the problem, Kimi's car would have already been opened and the technicians are currently working to try to resolve the problem.
The news was launched by Sky Sport F1 HD and was confirmed by the Scuderia itself a few minutes ago. Ferrari, in the worst case scenario, would be forced to replace the unit, forcing the 2007 World Champion to drop to eighth position (five positions penalty for replacing the gearbox. ed.).
