FIA, Charlie Whiting: “The drivers are listened to enough”
For the F1 race director, the system works perfectly
In the week leading up to the Circus at the second round of the season, scheduled for Bahrain on the Sakhir track, Charlie Whiting declared that the riders are listened to enough by the Federation. In recent days the GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers Association) had raised its voice through a statement - signed by president Alexander Wurz, Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button -, in which it pointed the finger at the current sporting and technical regulations and went so far as to define F1 obsolete and poorly structured.
"I don't understand why we should do more, the riders have important channels to express themselves sufficiently – Whiting's comment – . They have several opportunities to tell us what they think of the new rules. I honestly cannot understand their discomfort, it would be difficult to think of making improvements to this system".
“Every driver can express their opinion, there is nothing wrong with all this – continued the F1 race director –. On weekends when the GPs are held, they also have the opportunity to discuss certain events. Not just what happened in previous races. We talk about many things and this briefing is a perfect opportunity for a pilot to get closer to the idea that most intrigues him".
"Io – concludes Whiting – they are happy to be able to have a chat with them at any time. We had a meeting in Barcelona in the winter tests and, as you know, many pilots participated. This was all fantastic".
