Ferrari, Vettel: “Contrasting afternoon, but we understood several things”
On Raikkonen's renewal: "I think it was the right decision"
Sebastian Vettel ended Friday at Silverstone in fourth place. In the second free practice session of the British GP, the German set his best time in 1'32"570, paying more than nine tenths of a gap from the top occupied by Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes.
At Ferrari, not everything is going well, but the four-time world champion prefers to look at the glass half full: “I think this afternoon was a little mixed – Vettel told Sky Sport F1 – there was quite a bit of wind. It didn't go very well at first, but then the long run wasn't too bad. We need to talk to the others a bit to understand where we are, obviously there is a lot of work needed for tomorrow to improve the car. As a basis today we understood several things".
The German also said he was satisfied with Kimi Raikkonen's stay in Maranello again in 2017: "We are both pushing hard to try to help the team as much as we can, putting our personal interests aside and not allowing this to harm the team's work. I believe it was the right decision and we know that our main objective is to recover lost ground. So we all have to be on the same page, pushing in the same direction".
