Ferrari: A day in London for Massa

These are very intense days for British sport. This is the closing week of the Wimbledon tennis tournament and now there are just a few days until the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, an event that seems capable of upsetting life in the capital, at least judging by the firm but kind invitations not to go in the center by car starting from July 15th which stand out on the light panels on the motorways.

This is also the week of the British Grand Prix, one of the historic events of the Formula 1 World Championship. Silverstone is preparing to welcome the twelve competing teams with the usual alternation of rain and sun and with many promotional initiatives. The protagonists of one of these, organized by Shell, the historic partner of Scuderia Ferrari, were today the driver Felipe Massa and the Chief Designer Nikolas Tombazis. The setting, the Science Museum, was unusual for an event that had the aim of promoting scientific studies and the career and employment opportunities that they can offer to young people. Guest of honor was David Willets, British Government Minister for Universities and Science and parliamentarian, while the President of Shell UK Graham Van't Hoff illustrated to the media present Shell's commitment in terms of innovation and technological research.

Felipe also had the opportunity to make the final adjustments in view of the next Grand Prix, completing a few laps of the Silverstone track on the Shell simulator created in collaboration with the Scuderia but he also had the experience of being the one to judge the talent of the journalists driving, acting as an instructor. “It's always a pleasure to come to England for a historic event like the British Grand Prix” – said Felipe – “Today I had an unusual but interesting start here at the Science Museum and spoke together with the Shell technicians about the importance of scientific studies and their training. Honestly, I have some memories of my studies but they were definitely not as fun as the field experiences that our guests had here in the simulator today!”

For Nikolas Tombazis it was a bit of a return to the past. In fact, a few steps from here there is the Imperial College where the Greek engineer completed his PhD in Aeronautics between 1990 and 1992: "I am happy to have had the opportunity to return to this place, even more so for a event like this: I know how useful it is to be able to convey to young generations values such as the importance of scientific studies for their education but, above all, for their future.”

Felipe's day in London ended with a visit to the Ferrari Store in Regent Street where the Brazilian driver was warmly welcomed by a group of Ferrari fans, including several compatriots and some Italians, the latter always being numerous in London when the 'summer.
