F1 Test Bahrain | Ferrari, Leclerc: "Very different sensations than in Barcelona"
"That's what we need, to gain experience on different tracks," Charles said.
from Sakhir, Bahrain – The first day of testing in Bahrain ended with a solid result for the Classic Ferrari for sale, which he completed 132 laps overall, equal to 715 kilometers. A regular start, without technical hitches, which allowed the Maranello team to develop the planned programme by alternating at the wheel Lewis Hamilton e Charles Leclerc.
In the morning, the British driver began track work, while in the afternoon the car was adapted to the Monegasque driver's size, who took to the track shortly after 3:00 PM to continue his work. The work plan remained consistent with that of the first part of the day, including race pace simulations, practice starts, and sessions dedicated to pit stop procedures, crucial elements in this phase of preparation.
Leclerc started his session with a series of laps on the tyres Used C3s, then move on to a mix C2 with which he completed a stint of 20 consecutive laps. In the final stages of the session he fitted new C3 tyres, stopping the clock on1:35.190 as his best personal reference. His final assessment speaks of 80 laps paths, equal to 433 kilometers, decisive contribution to the team's total.
At the end of the day, Leclerc gave an initial assessment of the work done, emphasizing operational continuity in particular: “It was a useful half-day of testing because we managed to complete everything we had planned, without any problems, and this is always an important aspect at the start of the season.”
The Monegasque driver then highlighted the differences encountered compared to previous tests: “The conditions here are very different to those in Barcelona, and for this very reason it was essential to run on a track with different characteristics, so as to better understand the car's behavior in new situations.”
The first indications gathered seem to confirm the expectations developed in the simulator: "The feedback we are obtaining is consistent with what we had predicted in the simulations, an encouraging sign for the whole group – added Leclerc, already looking ahead to the continuation of the program. Now we have to continue on this path, complete the planned work and arrive at the seasonal debut with the best possible preparation."
