Ferrari: lots of irons in the fire in Sepang

It was a very intense day for Scuderia Ferrari, with a lot of work done by Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso to prepare in the best possible way for qualifying and the race of this fourteenth Malaysian Grand Prix. There were 94 laps completed by the two F2012s: 50 by the one driven by Fernando, 44 by the one entrusted to Felipe. There are many irons in the fire, as Team Principal Stefano Domenicali underlined during the FIA press conference this afternoon: it is now up to the technicians to season them as best as possible for the table to be set tomorrow afternoon.

“The two drivers had a very extensive program at their disposal today, a little different from each other but mainly focused on three points: comparison between different aerodynamic configurations, evaluation of the performance of the two types of tires (Medium and Hard) worn here from Pirelli and looking for the best set-up” declared Pat Fry.

“We didn't have any major problems so it was possible to complete the entire program and we are now analyzing the data to fine-tune the two cars for qualifying and the race. I would say that, at first glance, the situation is not very different compared to last week, nor could it be otherwise given that the cars are almost identical to those seen in Melbourne. We didn't see any particular balance issues and the long-distance pace doesn't seem too bad. In particular, Fernando appears to be a little more comfortable with the car while we still have to work to put Felipe in the best possible conditions. The objective for tomorrow is to get both cars into Q3: we are aware that, with the potential currently available, it will not be easy but we will give it our all."
