Ferrari realist: “The updated Monza PU will not be a super-engine”

Ferrari will bring the fourth specification of its engine to Monza for the Italian GP, appropriately updated with the use of some tokens (tokens expected for development), probably three in number.

The engine for Monza is highly anticipated, having to allow the Cavallino to keep up with the great efficiency of the Mercedes PUs, which cost them so dearly in Spa and which could prove even more disastrous in Brianza. The fourth PU represented the hope of bringing the power of Mercedes closer. Yet the Maranello team principal, with an impulse of great humility and realism, spoke to the fans, admitting that he did not expect sensational steps forward in Monza.

“We know that Monza is similar to SPA in terms of characteristics – said Maurizio Arrivabene – and therefore it is not a circuit suitable for our single-seater”. It is now well known, in fact, that the SF15-T prefers slower circuits where it can assert its balance and the excellent balance in the management of the soft tyres, often going into crisis when it comes to racing with engine or support.

“I'm sorry, but it's our home GP and I want to be realistic – continued Arrivabene – I don't want to deceive the fans. It's true, we will have a new engine, but we will use few tokens, so it's not right to talk about a super-engine".

Red still on defense therefore, hoping that the stop and go configuration of the Italian track, compared to the fast corners of Belgium, can still adapt better to the SF15-T
