Ferrari, Raikkonen confirmed for 2016!

News that will please many; on the eve of the Belgian GP Scuderia Ferrari has announced that it has exercised the option to extend the contract with Kimi Raikkonen. The candidacies of Valtteri Bottas, Nico Hulkenberg and Daniel Ricciardo himself were therefore discarded. La Rossa - as a sign of continuity and stability in the project - has decided to continue with the current driver pair, who are technically and temperamentally close-knit. Raikkonen will be Sebastian Vettel's partner again in 2016.

Here is the note from Ferrari: “Scuderia Ferrari announces that it has renewed the technical-competitive collaboration agreement that binds it to Kimi Raikkonen. In the next sporting season the team will still be made up of the Finnish driver and Sebastian Vettel."

The choice to announce Kimi's renewal on the eve of the most representative and important GP for the Finnish driver is probably not a coincidence. Raikkonen is the best modern interpreter of the SPA circuit, a true master among those glorious fast bends. An announcement like this is perfect; it serves to close months of internal and external controversies, of more or less well-founded rumors, sometimes of malice. Raikkonen is and will still be a Ferrari driver, and there was no better way to ask him for a great performance in "his" SPA.
