Ferrari: “Red Bull gives the best components to Vettel”

Red Bull also has a clear number 1 driver according to Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali. The Maranello team has never hidden that it favors its top driver, currently Fernando Alonso.

In Austin last month, this policy was demonstrated when Ferrari broke the gearbox seals on Felipe Massa's car to give Alonso a better grid position.

“If others don't like it, we don't care,” Ferrari president Luca Cordero di Montezemolo told the Marca newspaper. “The others are critical but do the same, albeit in a less transparent way.”

Domenicali also shares the same opinion: “Why did Webber have so many reliability problems with his car? Because the best parts go to the driver who gets the best results. And this is normal, and it is so logical that we never said anything. We don't like talking about others, but others like talking about us” he added.

Meanwhile, Domenicali admitted that Ferrari is already thinking about 2013, although Red Bull and McLaren have shown this year that they have stronger cars and the rules will not change much. Ferrari said it was convinced that using DRS only in the areas where it will actually be allowed in the race will be "a big change", combined with the softer Pirelli tyres.

“This year we took two to five laps to warm up the tyres” added Domenicali.
