Ferrari: Gutierrez, “Shanghai, a very technical track”

Ferrari F1 – The championship of Formula One he remains in Asia to face the third round of the World Championship, but moves to China. “It is a very different circuit from the Malaysian one – says Esteban Gutiérrez, third driver of the Scuderia Ferrari – both in terms of the technical aspect and the climate. In Shanghai there are many fast corners, such as turn one or the one that leads onto the long final straight. This, added to the fact that we usually find a rather cool climate in Shanghai, makes the tires work in very different conditions compared to Sepang.

In Malaysia, in fact, we had the advantage that at high temperatures our tires had very low degradation. In China, however, there will be much fewer degrees on the asphalt and there will be particularly important braking points: at the end of the long straight, you actually decelerate from three hundred and thirty kilometers per hour to sixty in about one hundred and twenty metres. This is certainly a good overtaking opportunity, but if you don't find a good balance of the car, graining can occur in just a few laps.

I believe that for us, concludes Esteban, it will be a more difficult race than the Malaysian one, but we still hope to be able to further reduce the distance from our rivals and make the most of our current potential with both cars. For Ferrari, China is a very important market also for our road cars and we want to make a good impression in front of the many customers and fans of the Prancing Horse."
