The Maranello team wants to improve on the single lap in qualifying in Abu Dhabi

Ferrari, Fry: “Some technical innovations seem positive”

Another Friday full of work for Scuderia Ferrari in Abu Dhabi, with just over six hundred kilometers covered by the two F2012s of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. As usual, the two drivers worked on evaluating different aerodynamic configurations and the performance of the Pirelli tires with different fuel loads. No technical problems were recorded on the Maranello single-seaters.

Alonso achieved the fourth and seventh fastest times today while Massa did not go beyond the 11th and eighth fastest times in the two sessions.

“We are pushing hard to try to bring new solutions to the track at every race” commented Pat Fry. “Some of those introduced for this race seem to be positive but we have to carefully evaluate their performance and then decide which ones to use in qualifying and in the race. The long run done by Felipe doesn't look bad but it's clear that we need to improve our performance on the flying lap if we want to start from the front rows of the grid.”
